As I read the Omnivore's Dilemma (i made it through the tome on corn and am now in the abbatoir), im realizing the way i treat eating is often mechanical and soulless. One has to wonder if all of the industrialized food has not led in some way to what I think is a collective national depressive state.

While Im not religious, Im beginning to rethink the notion of saying grace before a meal because that act makes us pause and appreciate what is before us.

As for the local farm, that is on the top of my list of requirements im building. Of course, Im lucky I live in San Francisco where "local", "grass fed" and "free range" are practically on our city's coat of arms.
